Microwaves - the way forward in verrucae treatment

Verrucae (warts) on the feet (and hands) are not nice things to have and can be very hard to treat. We have been using the SWIFT microwave system for over three years now and continue to have good results for our patients.

At the Chiropody Surgery, we were the first clinic in the world to use the device as part of study conducted through the University of Southampton. The device uses the power of microwaves to heat the wart to just above body temperature which has been shown to stimulate the immune system locally to destroy the infection.

Nationally, over 18 thousand treatments have been carried out on warts and verrucae in clinics with some very good success stories. The device itself, which is also used to treat a range of medical conditions has won national and international awards for the technology. Its use in other areas of medicine is now being investigated.
